The counting of votes for the four constituencies started on Saturday at 8 am for the Punjab Byelections 2024. The four constituencies of Punjab that underwent Byelections are- Dera Baba Nanak, Gidderbha, Chabbewal, and Barnala. As per the Election Commission of India's Early Trend (at 11: 52 am), the Aam Aadmi Party is leading in Dera Baba Nanak, Gidderbha, and Chabbewal, while Congress is leading in only 1 constituency i.e. in Barnala.
In Dera Baba Nanak, AAP candidate Gurdeep Singh Randhawa by 1382 votes while Congress' Jatinder Kaur Randhawa is trailing at number 2.
In Chabbewal, AAP candidate Dr. Ishank Kumar is looking strong to win the byelection as he is leading with 26050 votes, while Congress' Ranjit Kumar is number 2.
In Gidderbha, AAP candidate Hardeep Singh Dimpy Dhillon is leading with 7974 votes, while Congress candidate Amrita Warring is number 2 on the list.
In Barnala, Kuldeep Singh Dhillon of Congress is leading with 3781 votes while AAP's Harinder Singh Dhaliwal is at number 2.
It is said that AAP could have secured the Barnala constituency as well making the Punjab Byelection 4-0 if its rebel candidate Gurdeep Singh Batth had not played a spoilsport. For the unversed, Barnala district planning board chairman Gurdeep Singh Bath resigned from the post after the Aam Aadmi Party denied him the AAP ticket for the byelection from the Barnala assembly constituency. The AAP fielded Harinder Singh Dhaliwal from Barnala.
