The Punjab government's cabinet sub-committee meeting will take place today in Chandigarh. There will be a discussion about making 36,000 contractual employees permanent. The meeting will be chaired by Finance Minister Harpal Cheema. Harjot Bains and Gurmeet Meet Hayer will accompany him. As soon as the Aam Aadmi Party formed the government, it was announced to make sure the regularization of employees working on a contract basis.
In Punjab, many cases are going on in the courts to make the raw workers permanent. Cases are also pending in the High Court and the Supreme Court.
A committee has been established to ensure that the employees do not encounter any legal challenges as a result of the decision. Punjab's Advocate General Anmol Ratan Sidhu has also been included in this committee. This committee will investigate each of the factors involved in this procedure and submit its report to the chief minister. After which the final decision will be taken.

The previous Congress government had similarly announced plans to make 36,000 employees permanent a few days before the assembly elections. The file was approved and sent to the governor in this regard. However, then CM Charanjit Channi said that the governor stopped the file due to political reasons. Before approving this proposal, it was requested by the Governor's office that the government should solve several legal issues first. After which the matter got stuck.
