This winter season, Shimla witnessed snowfall earlier than usual. However, some parts of Punjab have recorded low temperature in comparison to Shimla. According to the weather forecast app, in the coming days Punjab is going to get colder than Shimla.
As per the weather forecast app, on 4th January, Saturday, some cities of Punjab are going to have lower temperature than Shimla. These Punjab cities include Jalandhar, Amritsar and Ludhiana. This winter Amritsar, Jalandhar, and Ludhiana East in Punjab are experiencing extremely cold temperatures, even colder than the hill station of Shimla.
On Saturday, as per the weather forecast app, Shimla will witness a temperature range between 9 °C and 18 °C whereas in jalandhar, the temperature will range between 7 °C and 23 °C, for Amritsar, the temperature will range between 6 °C and 23 °C and the temperature for Ludhiana on Saturday will be 7 °C to 23 °C.
According to the Meteorological Department, another western disturbance will become active on 4th January. It will affect the plains as well as the western Himalayan hills. On this day, light rain is expected in Amritsar, Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Tarn Taran and Hoshiarpur in Punjab. Due to the increase in cold, he Punjab government has announced school holidays for children till January 7.
There are chances of rainfall in most parts of Punjab on 5th or 6th January. In the month of December, Punjab has received 126 percent more rainfall than normal. Usually, 10.9 mm of rain falls in the month of December, but this year, 24.7 mm of rainfall has been recorded.
Meteorologist Pavneet Kaur Kingra has warned travelers to exercise caution during dense fog and advised them to drive slowly. In order to stay safe, people are encouraged to wear warm clothing when stepping out.
