Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday. This was the first formal meeting of Bhagwant Mann with PM Modi after assuming office.
In his meeting, Bhagwant Mann discussed the financial condition of Punjab. He said that Punjab has a debt of 3 lakh crores. He requested a ₹50,000 crores package per year for 2 years from the PM.
“Punjab's financial condition is in the doldrums. We've demanded ₹50,000 crores package per year for 2 years to improve state's financial situation," the Punjab CM said.
Mann said that we are working hard day and night. Aam Aadmi Party's new government has been formed. We are trying to fill the treasure again by eliminating the mafia who robbed the treasure.
Mann said that if we get a special package for at least 2 years, by then we will manage our financial situation. Punjab will stand on its own feet. Mann said that I hope that the Prime Minister will cooperate with us by talking to the Finance Minister of the country.
Mann said that Punjab had sacrificed more than 90% in the country's independence. Even today, Punjabis are stationed on the borders for the security of the country.
“I hope we will get full cooperation to make it again a Rangla Punjab. PM said that together we have to take the country forward. I told him that if I will develop Punjab, then the country will develop,” added Mann.

Bhagwant Mann took oath as Chief Minister on March 16 in Khatkar Kalan. After this, PM Narendra Modi had congratulated Bhagwant Mann for becoming the CM through a tweet.
