Cases related to drug abuse have always sprung up in Punjab but the startling fact that it hits hard for everyone is that now girls are also falling prey to the intoxication of drugs. It was only a few days back when a case from Amritsar came to the fore. A woman was struggling to stand at the road as it was alleged that she was intoxicated with drugs.
Not even a week has passed and another similar incident from Tarn Taran’s Bhikhiwind is surging up that reveals a girl has been found outside the elementary school. The condition in which the girl was found was so bad that she was not even to tell her name and address to the passersby. The girl found has now been admitted to the government hospital of the area by the people.
The girl who was found intoxicated outside a government school reached there with 2 young boys on a bike. When she was asked about her personal details, she was not able to tell as she fell unconscious.
The local people who saw the victim in that condition made several attempts to bring her to their senses but in vain. They added further that there were prominent injection marks o the body of the girl through which they figured out that she was under the influence of drugs. After all this, the ambulance was called and she was sent to the hospital.
Charan Singh, SHO of Bhikhiwind Police Station said that the girl found is not in a state to talk to anybody and as she regains her consciousness, her address and name will be asked from her. He further impressed on the point that at this point they cannot tell whether she was intoxicated or not.
