The 2022 Punjab Legislative Assembly elections will be held in Punjab on 20 February 2022 to elect the 117 members of the 16th Assembly of the Punjab Legislative Assembly. Over 2.14 crore voters will decide the fate of 1304 candidates in Punjab.

Punjab Election 2022 schedule was shifted from February 14 to February 20 last month by the Election Commission in view of the birth anniversary of Guru Ravidas. The Punjab election result will be out on March 10. The Election Commission banned the media from publishing exit polls between 10 February and 7 March. Violation of the directive would be punishable with two years of imprisonment.

Punjab is all set for the smooth conduct of forthcoming assembly elections as all the necessary arrangements have already been put in place in this regard. Here’s all the related information you need to know.

According to the Election Commission, 117 Assembly constituencies in 23 districts of Punjab will be voting from 24,689 polling booths on Sunday. The polling will be held between 8 am to 6 pm across all the polling stations.

Documents required for Voting:

Voters with or without booth slip could use either the electoral photo identity card or any of the following 11 documents as their identity proof to exercise voting rights:

  1. Aadhar card
  2. MNREGA job card
  3. Health insurance smart card issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare
  4. Driving license
  5. PAN card
  6. Smart card issued by the Office of Registrar General and Census Commissioner
  7. Passport
  8. Pension document with photograph
  9. Identity card issued by any Central or State government agency
  10. Identity cards issued to MLAs or MPs
  11. Unique Disability ID (UDID) issued by Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment Government of India
