With the advent of 2025, many developmental projects are expected to start and even complete this year. Punjab Expressway is among those projects that the government is looking forward to complete to reduce the travel distance between multiple districts of the state.
According to reports, NHAI is building a 110-km-long expressway in Punjab. This expressway will benefit the people of Punjab and passengers from other states. It will connect Chandigarh with multiple cities in Punjab. With its construction, the journey from Bathinda to Chandigarh will be reduced by 50 km.
Earlier, people coming from Bathinda had to pass through Barnala, Sangrur, and Patiala to reach Chandigarh. Now with the construction of this expressway, people will be able to travel directly from Barnala to Chandigarh. This will save time and people will not need to pass through Sangrur and Patiala.
Punjab Expressway Routes
The Punjab Expressway will connect many major places including Bathinda, Muktsar, Abohar, and even Rajasthan. It will connect Chandigarh to Barnala, Malerkotla, Khanna Bypass, Sirhind, and Mohali. The biggest advantage of this expressway is that it will also connect to the economic corridor being developed from Ludhiana to Ajmer. This will open up even more opportunities for trade and business in the region.
In addition, a separate road will be built between Barnala and Mohali IT City, which will improve access to this important tech hub. Currently, construction work is going on on the Sirhind-Mohali road, and work on the road connecting Sirhind to Barnala will start in the coming time.
This expressway is part of the Bharatmala Project and it will be a greenfield expressway. Greenfield expressway means that it is being developed in an area where no road infrastructure already exists. Apart from this, this expressway will also connect to the six-lane road being built between Bathinda and Ludhiana. When completed, this expressway will boost economic development in Punjab and improve infrastructure.
And, hence it is obvious that land prices near the expressways will skyrocket in the coming days.
