Amidst the chaos at the Punjab-Haryana borders, Punjab is currently facing a major shortage of diesel and cylinder gas due to the farmers’ protest. There is a major shortage of Diesel & LPG gas supply to Punjab due to road blockage and safety, as per reports from news agency ANI. The situation at the borders has caused a 50% reduction in Diesel dispatches and 20% reduction in gas dispatches to Punjab, as per reports.
Not only this, the Punjab Petrol Pump Dealers’ Association had announced a statewide shutdown due to a non-increase in dealer margin by the oil companies since 2018. They also hadn’t bought any oil on February 16, a move which majorly impacted the fuel stocks in Punjab.
Farmers from across the country have been protesting to exert pressure on the government to address their 12 demands concerning the implementation of legislation for the minimum support Price (MSP), procurement prices, and other related issues since February 13. Several meetings with the Union Ministers in Chandigarh have been inconclusive, with the farmers still adamant on making their way to Delhi to protest against the Centre.
