The Punjab government has declared a public holiday on May 1st in celebration of Labour Day.
According to an official spokesperson, all government offices, boards/corporations and educational institutions in the state of Punjab will remain closed on that day. The decision has been welcomed by workers across the state, as it provides them with a chance to rest and spend time with their families.
The government has also urged private sector employers to give their workers the day off in recognition of their contribution to the economy.
