Punjab Holiday November 20, Punjab Four Districts Holiday November 20: In light of upcoming by-elections in four legislative constituencies in Punjab, the state government has declared a holiday on November 20. According to the official notification, there will be a local holiday for government offices, boards, corporations, and educational institutions in districts Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Sri Muktsar Sahib, and Barnala.
The notification also specifies that any government official or employee who is a registered voter in Dera Baba Nanak, Chabbewal, Gidderbaha, or Barnala constituencies but works in a government office or educational institution in a different district of Punjab can take special leave to vote by presenting their voter card. This leave will not be deducted from the employee’s leave balance.
Schools and Colleges Closed for Three Days
It’s worth noting that schools, colleges, and government offices across the state will observe three consecutive holidays from November 15 to 17. The first holiday is on November 15 for the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the first Sikh Guru, observed in Punjab, Chandigarh, and several other states. On November 16, there will be a public holiday in Punjab to honor the martyrdom of Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha. During these three days, schools, colleges, and commercial establishments will remain closed across the state.
