Punjab govt plans major housing projects across 6 districts, 5,000 acres to be acquired

The Chief Secretary held a meeting with the officials of the development authority of the concerned districts and after discussions, he gave the green signal to the project.

The Punjab government is preparing to set up housing projects in 6 districts including Jalandhar and Ludhiana. With the setting up of new big projects in 6 districts of the state, 5 thousand acres of land will be acquired in these districts.

After the approval of Chief Secretary KPS Sinha, this project of Housing and Urban Development has got a green signal. Now it would get approval in the Punjab Cabinet meeting to be held on 10th February.

The Chief Secretary held a meeting with the officials of the development authority of the concerned districts and after discussions, he gave the green signal to this project on Wednesday. The Urban Housing Development Secretary and the Chief Secretary of the state will present this proposal before Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. Its formal announcement can be made after the cabinet meeting.

A total of 5 thousand acres of land will be acquired for this project in Punjab. Following this, plots will be allotted in different categories in Jalandhar, Patiala, Amritsar, Ludhiana, Bathinda and Mohali. These will include residential, commercial and institutional plots at reasonable prices. 

Under these housing projects, plots will also be allotted for schools, hospitals and shopping malls. Residential plots will be of 150, 200, 300 and 500 yards. Meanwhile, 1,000 acres of land will be acquired in Mohali and 600-900 acres of land in other cities.
