Big relief for suspended IG Paramraj Singh Umranangal as the high court cancelled the order to suspend, hence allowing to him to rejoin the Punjab Police. Umranangal was under departmental inquiry regarding the Behbal-Kalan firing incident and a NDPS (Drugs) case.
Two FIRs were registered against the IG in the Kotakpura and Behbal Kalan firing cases, following which he was suspended. Umranangal had earlier challenged the suspension in CAT (Central Administrative Tribunal), but his plea was rejected. Following this, Umranangal filed a petition in the High Court seeking cancellation of the suspension order. On Friday, the High Court, passing judgment on their petition, quashed the orders of their suspension and ordered his reinstatement.
Punjab & Haryana High Court revoked the suspension of IG Parmaraj Umranangal on Friday and directed the government to have him rejoin the force within 15 days.
