A recent event has brought Punjab Police’s efficiency under question. An elderly man claimed that his bike was stolen 6 years ago which the police did not return to him until being ordered by the Chief Minister himself. After the CM’s urging, the bike was promptly returned to him in under 2 hours.
Avtar Singh informs that his bike was stolen in 2017. Singh belongs to Khamonon town near Fatehgarh Sahib and met the CM while he was conducting a surprise inspection into the police’s operations. As it turned out the police had confiscated the bike 4 years ago in 2019, but hadn’t returned it to its owner.
Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann was in Bassi Pathan for the surpise checking when he met the elderly man and after listening to his woes, the CM ordered the police to investigate the matter. They managed to return the bike to the person in under 2 hours. It then came to light that they had confiscated the bike in 2019 but hadn’t returned it to the owner.
Punjab police put under the spotlight:
In a live event in Ludhiana, the CM put the Police on the spotlight citing this incident. He claimed that he was doing these random checks to make sure that the police were doing their work diligently. This incident proved the necessity of these checks. He promises that he will continue scrutinizing the police so that justice is provided to all the citizens.
