In a case of extreme punishment, a young man was brutally beaten then dragged around the road over suspicion of theft in Punjab’s Sri Muktsar Sahib. As per reports, he was tied to the back of a truck and dragged for nearly half a kilometre. Also posted the video of the young man on the internet. Police have registered a case against the attackers and a search is currently underway.
The young man was first forcibly abducted from his house and then, in a Taliban-like punishment, tied to the back of a truck and dragged through Jalalabad Road.
Rajni, a resident of Jalalabad Road, told that two days ago the women were at home and her brother-in-law was sleeping in the room. It must have been three o'clock in the afternoon when four people in a car entered his house with sharp weapons and forcibly took away his brother-in-law Sonu. At Jalalabad Road Bypass, Sonu was taken out of the car, tied behind the and dragged for about half a kilometre.
Rajni said that even after complaining to the police, no action was taken against the accused for two days. He said that hooliganism has been committed against them in broad daylight yet the police did not even take their statement.
When SP (H) Kanwalpreet Singh informed that police personnel have been sent to the hospital to take the statement of the victim. Based on the statements of the family, action will be taken against the accused.
