In the Jalandhar West by-elections, Sardar Bhagwant Singh, the Chief Minister of Punjab, made a vow to the people that he would spend two days a week in Jalandhar to see to their needs. As promised, he has scheduled meetings with local authorities for Wednesday and Thursday of next week to talk about election strategy.
As part of his commitment, Bhagwant Singh has rented a house to make it easier for him to visit Jalandhar regularly. His commitment comes in the wake of the recent by-election, which Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Mahendra Bhagat won handily. After leaving the BJP, Bhagat joined the AAP, which helped him win the West Assembly seat.
CM Bhagwant Mann reaffirmed his pledge on 'X', stating,
During the by-elections, I had promised the people of Jalandhar that I would live in Jalandhar for two days in a week and the work of the people of Majhe-Doab would be done here. Coming to Jalandhar...
See you again, Jalandhar people...
