A couple of days ago, some Punjab Police personnel on-duty at the Punjab Vidhan Sabha talked to Navjot Singh Sidhu.
They shared with him their concern with hurts them in two ways.
The issue is about Ration Money Allowance (RMA), an allowance which is paid to all men and women in law enforcement and military on a per day basis.
Not only is there an indirect financial burden being put on these employees of Punjab Police, but they are also being treated unfairly as compared to other men and women in law enforcement departments and armed forces.

Sidhu’s written letter claims that our men and women in all ranks of Army, Navy, and Air Force receive Rs 234.58 per day, while Non-Gazetted Combatised Central Armed Police Forces, IB, and Delhi Police Personnel receive Rs 117.29 per day.
Against this allowance rate, the Punjab Police personnel receive less than 1.5% of the highest RMA, which is Rs 3 per day.
Sidhu, thus acting upon this request wrote to the Dinkar Gupta,DGP of the state police requesting the latter to consider the inequality being meted out to the personnel.
Sidhu requested Gupta to reconsider the RMA, and this he did not only as an elected representative of the people of Punjab but also as the latter’s friend.
