Punjab players of Indian Hockey Team to arrive Amritsar tomorrow, Jalandhar athletes to take part in road show; Check routes

Indian Hockey Team on Saturday landed at New Delhi Airport and got a rousing welcome from the fans for winning bronze at the Paris Olympics 2024.

After scripting history at the Paris Olympics 2024, Punjabi Players of the Indian Hockey Team will reach Amritsar on August 11, 2024. Indian Hockey Team on Saturday landed at New Delhi Airport and got a rousing welcome from the fans. Indian Hockey Team won back-to-back Olympic medals for the first time in over five decades, since the 1972 Munich Olympics. Notably, Punjab made a significant contribution to the Indian Hockey Team's dominance at the Paris Olympics 2024. For the unversed, 10 out of 16 players, part of the Indian Hockey Team are from Punjab. Therefore, on Saturday, the Punjabi players will return to their home state. 

As per the information received, the players will first land at Amritsar Airport at 7 am where they will welcomed by the fans and family. Thereafter, a road show has been organised for four players hailing from Jalandhar- Manpreet Singh, Mandeep Singh, Hardik Singh Rai, and Sukhjeet Singh. Indian Hockey Team's roadshow in Jalandhar will start at 12:30 pm (IST). Talking about Indian Hockey Team Jalandhar road show routes- the four bronze medalist's convoy will cross from areas- BSF Chowk, APJ College, Guru Nanak Mission Chowk, Model Town, Gole Market, Mithapur Chowk, Gurudwara Shri Guru Singh Sabha Mithapur. 

After landing at Delhi Airport, Indian Hockey Team's skipper Harmanpreet Singh said, "It is very heart-warming to see Indian fans come out to receive and congratulate us for the bronze medal. The team left no stone unturned to prepare for the Olympics and to see your efforts bear fruit, to see the whole country rejoice in our victory, is an inexplicable feeling."

Vice-captain Hardik Singh who will take part in the Jalandhar roadshow highlighted the camaraderie in the squad saying, "The trust we had in each other, the unshakeable belief that a teammate will step right up to cover up if you miss a step, is what pushed us to always give our best on the field."
