After the announcement of blocking the highways in the state by Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), commission agents and millers on Friday. On Sunday, 13th October, Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) has also announced to stop trains for three hours at 18 places in the state. Passengers are going to face a lot of trouble on Sunday due to this announcement. Public should avoid using these roads and railways as they will be blocked by the protestors.
In Sangrur, Pradhan Joginder Singh Ugrahan said that the union will stop trains from 12 noon to 3 pm in 16 districts of Punjab including Sangrur, Mansa, Bathinda, Barnala, Patiala. SKM leader Balbir Singh Rajewal said that his organization will stop the movement of buses on highways across the state.
Both the organizations will protest separately. After the announcement, the operation of 20 trains of Ferozepur division and 32 trains of Ambala division may get affected. Regarding the Rail Roko campaign, the railway has written a letter to RPF, DGP Punjab and Chandigarh in which GRP officials have been asked to ensure security at sections/stations in collaboration with the state police and security agencies. However, the railways has not yet announced cancellation or short termination.
