The countdown for Republic Day 2025 has begun with preparations going on in full swing in entire India. India will celebrate its 76th Republic Day this year i.e. on 26 January 2025. On this occasion, an attractive parade takes place from Rashtrapati Bhavan to India Gate. Every year on Republic Day, foreign heads of state are invited to the parade and made the chief guest on behalf of India. This year, President of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto has been declared the chief guest for the Republic Day celebrations.
During the parade, multiple states of India send their tableau that are broadcasted during the Republic Day parade. Punjab's tableau that was missing last year drew sharp reactions from the state government against the Centre. Now, the question arises whether Punjab Tableau will be part of this year's Republic Day or not.
Will Punjab's tableau be part of Republic Day 2025?
The answer is yes. As per reports, the Government of India has approved Punjab's tableau for the Republic Day celebrations 2025. This year, Punjab's tableau will showcase the vibrant colours of the state's rich culture and heritage, marking its participation in the 76th Republic Day Parade. Punjab, which is governed by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), is among the 15 states and Union Territories to have their tableaux featured in the parade.
Notably, last year when the Centre did not approve Punjab's tableau for Republic Day parade, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann wrote on X, "(Translated version) Today, the value of the martyrdom of Punjabis by the BJP government at the centre has been presented to 3 crores Punjabis through the media. This time again the tableau of Punjab was not included in the 26th January parade...we sent 3 subjects... 1. History of Martyrs of Punjabis 2. History of Mai Bhago Ji 3. Priceless heritage of Punjab. This decision of the BJP government at the centre shows how much poison is in their hearts against Punjabis."
In response, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) clarified that the Punjab tableau was not selected for the Republic Day parade as it did not align with the broader theme.
As per reports, 15 tableaux have been selected from states, and UTs for the Republic Day parade. The states and UTs selected include Bihar, Chandigarh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, Goa, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Haryana.
