Punjab to set up posts of law officer, community officer, women's desk in state’s police stations

This will help to check the registration of false cases against any person in the police stations.

In order to speed up the work on the 18 points given by the Congress high command and win the trust of the people, the state government has now taken new steps every day. The government has decided to set up the posts of law officers, community officers, and women desks in 382 police stations of the state. This will help to check the registration of false cases against any person in the police stations.

According to information, the government has decided to deploy a law officer in all police stations. No case can be registered in the police station without the approval of the Law Officer. Whenever there is any incident or accident, the law officer present in the police station will give an opinion to the police officer about registering the case in view of all the intricacies of the law, after that the police will register the case. This officer will also represent the cases registered in the police stations in the court. The government and the DGP headquarters were getting numerous complaints about registering false cases. The posting of a Law officer will help in checking such cases.

In order to improve relations between the police and the public, the government is reported to recruit 400 community officers in the police. The recruitment process has already begun. A community officer will also be posted in each police station, who will work to establish a better relationship with the public. He will listen to the people who come with the complaint and talk to them on the specifics of the law, if possible, try to convince both the parties in the matter so that the dispute does not escalate. At the same time, the confidence of the people in the police and government would also increase.

Punjab DGP Dinkar Gupta said that it has been decided to deploy 600 law officers in 382 police stations and headquarters of the state. For this, the test is being taken for those who qualify for LLB and LLM. After that, the law officer to be selected will be posted in each police station. FIR will be registered against the accused under the relevant sections only after the approval of the Law Officer. He said that work is going on to set up law officers, community officers, and women desks in every police station. People are being recruited and will start working after September. The government is committed to crack down on criminals and bring justice to the people.
