The clock is ticking when India and Indians living well celebrate Holi 2025 on March 14. Also known as the festival of colours, Holi is celebrated on the Pratipada date of Krishna Paksha of Chaitra month. This year, the festival of Holi will be celebrated on Friday, March 14. There is a tradition of burning Holika a day before Holi, that is, Holika Dahan will be on March 13. The day of Holika Dahan is also known as Chhoti Holi. According to the Hindu calendar, Holika Dahan is done on the full moon day of Phalgun month as a victory of good over evil. With Holi in the backdrop, Punjab and other parts of north India are witnessing a rise in temperature. 

However, the good news is that there is a prediction of rainfall on the day of Holi in multiple cities of Punjab. Cities of Punjab like Amritsar, Jalandhar, Patiala, etc, are all set to witness 2 to 3 days of rainfall by the end of next week. As per Apple Weather App forecast, there is a 45 percent chance of rainfall in Jalandhar on March 14, 2025, and then there is a 50 percent chance of rainfall on Sunday, i.e,. on March 16, 2025. 

The holy city of Amritsar is expected to witness 3 days of back-to-back rainfall. The App predicts that there is a 50 to 55 percent chance of rainfall in Amritsar from March 14 to March 16, 2025. Patiala is too likely to witness rainfall from March 14 to March 15. 

It means that if the prediction comes true, Punjabis will witness rainfall on Holi.

As per reports, the auspicious time of Holika Dahan on March 13 will start at 11:26 pm, and the time will end at 12:30 pm on March 14. On the day of Holika Dahan, Bhadra's shadow will start at 10:35 am, and it will end by 11:26 pm, after which Holika Dahan will be done. Bhadra's shadow will last for about 13 hours on this day.

During Holika Dahan, a branch of a tree is placed on the ground, and it is covered from all sides with wood, cow dung cakes, etc. Fire is lit in this structure at an auspicious time. It is believed that this fire helps keep a person healthy throughout the year and destroys negative forces. There is also a tradition of bringing the ashes home after Holika Dahan and applying Tilak. In many places, it is also known as Chhoti Holi.
