Congress’ Jalandhar Lok Sabha candidate and Punjab Ex-CM Charanjit Channi is in major controversy just before the Lok Sabha Elections. A short clip of him touching the chin of Ex-president of Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) Bibi Jagir Kaur had gone viral. Channi’s troubles keep piling on however, as the Punjab State Commission for Women sent a notice to the DGP calling for immediate action against the former Chief Minister.
The notice says that “Charanjit Singh Channi's action is unforgivable… immediate investigation/action should be taken in this regard because Mrs. Jagir Kaur ji is a former cabinet minister and the former president of SGPC. Mr. Charanjit Singh Channi who is the former Chief Minister and a prominent personality, many such cases have come to light before. Regarding the action taken in this regard, the status report should be sent to the commission tomorrow on 14.05.2024 by 02.00 pm”
