Nishan Singh, a 19-year-old from Chakkeki village in Kapurthala, arrived in Amritsar late at night after being deported from the US. After reaching home, he made some significant revelations. His family had spent lakhs of rupees to send him to the US. After being deported from the US, he returned to his village, Chakkeki. The SHO of Dhilwan police station, Manjeet Singh, ensured Nishan Singh was handed over to his family.

Nishan Singh, son of Lakhwinder Singh, shared that he went to France on June 23, 2022, for a brighter future. Later, his family arranged for him to travel directly to the US from France by negotiating with an agent for 35 lakh rupees. After mortgaging land and selling gold, they paid the agent 17 lakh rupees in cash and deposited the remaining amount in different accounts.

On June 24, 2024, they left France for the US. He mentioned that the agent did not arrange a direct flight to the US but instead took them on a long and dangerous route through the jungle, calling it a dunke route, and demanded more money along the way. They were sent on a tanker, during which Nishan injured his leg, but no treatment was given. He was also beaten and subjected to electric shocks during the journey.

After passing through several countries, they finally reached a US camp on January 24, 2025. The conditions there were equally bad, and they were also beaten at the camp. A Pakistani translator at the camp told him that he would now be sent back to India. Nishan's mother, Balvinder Kaur, and the rest of the family have appealed to the government for help.
