In yet another initiative, the state education department has asked all the government school headmasters and principals to prepare PowerPoint presentations (PPTs) and highlight key points that they plan to adopt to accomplish the ‘Mission Cent Percent’ as well as to spruce up infrastructural facilities to accelerate the pace of education reforms.
Under this initiative, workshops were being conducted at various government schools of the state. The workshops, which started on December 21 and were concluded today, witnessed the participation of District Education Officers, Deputy District Education Officers, members of Zila Shikhiya Sudhar teams, district mentors, Parho Punjab, Parhao Punjab coordinators and school heads.
At the workshops, school principals and headmasters presented their PPTs and new ideas, practices and innovations for accomplishing the Mission Cent Percent in the ensuing PSEB examinations, extension and augmentation of infrastructural facilities with the active community participation were discussed and shared for replicating the same in other schools.
"The Education Department officials and school heads were imparted training regarding systematic data analysis for meticulous planning for the purpose. They were trained to prepare PowerPoint presentations (PPTs) on comparative analysis of the performance of the students in different subjects during the house examinations conducted during the current academic session and progress report on the implementation of the 20-point programme for sprucing up infrastructural facilities for ensuring judicious use of resources for bringing in qualitative improvement in education,” said Jagjit Singh,District Education Officer, Nawanshahr.
Deputy District Education Officer(SE), Amrik Singh, Dr. Surinder Agnihotri, Incharge, Zila Sikhiya Sudhar Team, Parmod Bharti, Media Coordinator, Principal, Rajnish Kumar, DSM, Vinay Sharma, Member, Zila Sikhiya Sudhar team, Varinder Banga, Jatinder Sharma, Naresh Bhrigu, District Mentors , English, Mathematics and Science respectively, Gurnam Dass, Block Mentor, among others, also gave valuable tips to the school heads for accomplishing the " Mission Cent percent" and other projects to give a fillip to qu quality improve drive in school education.
“The activity has been of great help to school heads and teachers to learn from each other.", said Vijay Sharma and Sunil Behal, Principal, GSSS, Khotran and Behloor Kalan respectively while adding that the they had an interactive session while delivering our PPTs wherein we discussed all practical approaches that could be undertaken to better the academic results.
Meanwhile, Education Secretary Krishan Kumar while lauding the efforts being put in by school principals and headmasters for visualising qualitative improvement in their respective schools said the purpose of this comprehensive exercise was to ensure capacity building in officials of the Education Department so that they could be well equipped in conducting a scientific analysis to prepare a meticulous plan for channelising energy and resources in the right direction.
“It would not only help them to play a proactive role in achieving the desired results but would also hone their skills to prepare a vision for giving a fillip to the improvement in school education,” he said.
