A big decision has come as the latest development over mobile internet and SMS services suspension due to Amrtipal Singh’s search operation. The Punjab government on Tuesday announced that mobile internet services, as well as SMS services, will be resumed in Punjab barring some districts.
Punjab's Home Secretary Anurag Verma confirmed that mobile internet services, SMS services will be resumed in Punjab from 12 noon on 21st March 2023. He further added that due to some reasons, the suspension of internet and SMS services will not be lifted in some districts. These districts include, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, Moga, Sangrur, Sub-Division Ajnala in Amritsar, areas adjoining YPS chowk and Airport Road both in SAS Nagar. The suspension of mobile internet & SMS services in these states will continue till 12 noon on 23rd March 2023.
The order from Punjab's Home Secretary Anurag Verma read that mobile internet services (2G/3G/4G/5G/CDMA/GPRS), all SMS services (excluding banking and mobile recharge) and all dongle services provided on mobile networks, except the voice calls, shall continue to remain suspended from 21/03/2023 (1200 hrs) to 23/03/2023 (1200 hrs) only in the districts Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, Moga, Sangrur, Sub-Division Ajnala in Amritsar, areas adjoining YPS chowk and Airport Road, both in SAS Nagar. It further added that mobile internet services in all the remaining areas of the State should start functioning normally from 12.00 noon today i.e. 21.03.2023.
Reportedly, it’s the 4th day of search operation and Amritpal Singh has not been arrested. Punjab Police has increased the manhunt near areas surrounding Jalandhar as he is suspected to be hiding there.
For the unversed, police have detained 112 close aids of Waris Punjab De Chief Amritpal Singh. On Monday, Amritpal Singh’s uncle Harjit Singh surrendered to Punjab Police after which he was sent to Assam where already four of his members are lodged.
