Punjab Municipal Corporation elections are scheduled to be held before November 15. The Punjab government has written a letter to the Election Commission to conduct elections for municipal corporations before 15th of November.
As per the letter, the Punjab government has written to conduct elections in a total of five municipal corporations.
Furthermore, the orders have issued by Punjab Governor Banwari Lal Purohit to be followed by the Punjab government.
In regard to this, the Punjab government came into action regarding these elections, and the work of ward closure had expedited in August.
It is worth noting that the Punjab Governor has given the green signal to the elections of the Municipal Council and Nagar Panchayats in the state, and these elections scheduled in Punjab from 1st of November to 15th of November.
In addition to this, the Governor has also approved holding by-elections in 27 wards of 39 Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayats.
After the election notification is issued, the State Election Commission will soon complete the election related process.
With this, the eyes of all the parties are fixed now on the Municipal Corporation election, and many municipal corporations in Punjab have completed their tenure.
Moreover, the work of warding is going on in corporations these days, and objections and suggestions have sought from the people.
According to the reports, Congress has also challenged the ward ban in the High Court. Therefore, the corporation elections may postponed for three more months.
