Chandigarh, April 26: The Punjab School Education Department has released grants for strengthening the infrastructure of Vocational Labs to improve vocational education.
Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the school education department said that the education minister, Mr. Vijay Inder Singla has emphasized to convert vocational / NSQF Labs into Smart Labs to improve the standard of vocational education. At present 955 NSQF Labs and 450 state vocational labs are running in the schools across the state. The department has formulated a strategy to digitally strengthen these labs and convert them into smart labs. For this Rs. 66,500 for non-IT trade lab and Rs. 11000 for IT trade lab has already been released. Now the department has arranged Rs. 8500 per lab to make these labs more attractive.

According to the spokesperson, this amount has to be used for paint/Bala work/flex, door mat, window curtain/ door curtain, maintenance of furniture, installation of white/green boards, exhaust fans, syllabus handlers, clock, newspapers reading stand etc. Directions have been also issued to write down all the precautions and paste the chart inside the labs.
