Punjab's weather to change once again, 3-days of rainfall predicted from THIS date

The weather department IMD has predicted that rainfall in Punjab is likely to return and the state may witness three days of showers.

Punjab on February 20 witnessed rainfall throughout the day. Jalandhar and its nearby areas also witnessed hailstorms that gave a 'snowfall-like' vibe to Punjabis and that too in a spring season when summer is knocking on the doors. Now, the weather department IMD has predicted that rainfall in Punjab is likely to return and the state may witness three days of showers. 

According to the Meteorological Center, a new western disturbance is becoming active from February 24. Its effect will be seen in the hilly areas of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal, and Uttarakhand. From February 24, there may be snowfall along with rain in the hilly areas. Its effect will be seen in the plains from February 26. There are chances of rain again in Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh on February 26-27. A yellow alert has been issued for two days and there are chances of a storm along with rain.

Notably, Apple Weather App also predicts rainfall in Punjab like the IMD. As per the Apple Weather App, Punjab will witness rainfall for three days starting from February 27 to March 1 i.e. on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. On Thursday, there is a 45 percent chance of rainfall in Jalandhar, while 65 percent on Friday and ultimately 50 percent chance of rain on Saturday.

After the rains in the last few days, the temperature of Punjab remains below normal. In the last 24 hours, the average maximum temperature has increased by 1.9 degrees Celsius. However, this temperature in the state is 1.6 degrees Celsius below normal.

The highest maximum temperature in the state on February 21 was recorded at 24.6 degrees Celsius, which was in Pathankot. According to the Meteorological Center, there will be a slight increase in temperature for the next three days.

The minimum temperature on February 22 in Punjab was recorded at 9.4 degrees Celsius in Fazilka and Moga region.  While there will not be much change in temperature after February 24. But a new western disturbance is becoming active from this day. Due to this a big change in temperature can be seen again in the coming days.
