Radhika said, "I was trolled badly, and it did affect me. I couldn't step out of the house for four days,"
Discussing how the film 'Parched' came to her at a time when she needed it the most, as well as the controversy surrounding the nude clip,Radhika told to a local magazine, "I really needed a role like this because when you're in Bollywood you're constantly told what to do with your body and I always maintained that I would never do anything to my body or face. When a nude clip of mine leaked, while I was filming Clean Shaven, I was trolled badly, and it did affect me. I couldn't step out of the house for four days, not because of what the media was saying but because my driver, watchman, and my stylist's driver recognized me from the images."
"The controversial photographs were bare-skinned selfies, and anyone with a sane eye would have guessed it wasn't me. I don't think there is anything one can do, or one should do, but ignore it. Anything else is a waste of your time. So, when I stripped for Parched, I realized: 'There's nothing left for me to hide'." added Radhika.
Radhika also revealed that she began questioning her career path while filming Rakta Charitra, for which she de-glammed and transformed into a village girl. "I wasn't sure if I wanted to do the film. I honestly felt very exploited because I wasn’t getting paid much. They told me I'd be doing one film but then they made me shoot in Tamil and Telugu as well. So, I was like okay, this is a lot of work and commitment. The film had big actors and the shoots would never start on time. I have never been desperate for work. So, I didn’t feel like I needed to endure long hours on the set when my time and talent weren’t being optimised. It was during this time that I began questioning my career path; I thought to myself: 'Is this how the business works?'she said.
She, on the other hand, stated that she was excited to learn from Ram Gopal Verma, "And while we, as a team, did have fun, the culture of favouritism and exploitation (of time) was prevalent."
Radhika had this to say about Badlapur
"Badlapur was sort of right in between for me because it had a lot of content and it was also for the normal audience and so I think, people saw me in a different light. It was barely a seven-day job, but it was fulfilling. What’s nice is when you have a smaller role, but people still talk about your performance. I find that particularly rewarding." She added, "So, I think things started changing slowly after Badlapur, which turned out to be a massive turning point in my career."
Radhika is currently in London with her husband due to travel restrictions and a lockdown in India during the second wave of COVID-19. Radhika was most recently seen in the Disney+HotStar film 'OK Computer,' alongside Vijay Varma and Jackie Shroff.
