The central government has now taken on 'The Hindu' newspaper indirectly making a statement in Supreme Court of the confidential information being stolen from the Defence Minister. The government has alleged the leaking of the documents in public is an outright violation of the Official Secrets Act and the offenders might get jailed for the same.
On the other hand, N Ram of 'The Hindu' said, "We have not stolen anything. We got it from confidential sources and we are committed to protecting these sources. Nobody is going to get any information from us on these sources. But the documents speak for themselves and the stories speak for themselves".
"Whatever we have published has been published. They are authentic documents. And they have been published in the public interest because these details have been withheld or covered up... It is the duty of the press - through investigative journalism - to bring out relevant information or issues of great importance for the public interest," added N Ram as reported by the media sources.
Supreme Court has been answering the petitions filed on its older verdict on Rafale deal stating the price of Rafale to be higher than the earlier one.
'The Hindu' had revealed a document in public in which it revealed that Anil Ambani was aware of the deal prior to the information to France and had alleged Prime Minister of corruption and crony capitalism.
