Following the footsteps of his grandmother Indira Gandhi, Congress President Rahul Gandhi will be contesting from two seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections. With Amethi being already announced, Rahul will be contesting Wayanad seat from Kerala as well. His mother had also contested on two seats in 1999 with Amethi and Bellary seats. Former Prime Minister and Rahul's grandmother Indira Gandhi also contested on two seats in 1980 - Raebareli and Medak.
While Congress made this announcement on Sunday, BJP didn't leave the chance to attack Rahul Gandhi's decision with Union Minister Smriti Irani tweeting that the constituency "drove him away".
Congress however turned down the allegations and counter-attacked Modi leaving Gujarat and contesting from Varanasi.

"imilar allegations could have been made when Narendra Modi left Gujarat. The BJP minister (Smriti Irani) earlier lost from both Amethi and Chandni Chowk (in Delhi). Now, she is prepped up for losing again in Amethi," said Surjewala, a senior Congress leader.
The elections in Wayanad will be conducted on April 23 and those in Amethi will be contested on May 6.
With Rahul contesting from Wayanad as well, Priyanka Gandhi is also being speculated to contest as a joint-opposition candidate against PM Modi in Varanasi.
