New Delhi: Party sources on Monday informed that Congress President Rahul Gandhi is most likely to file his nomination for the Lok Sabha seat of Wayanad on 3rd April. The Congress had earlier announced on Sunday that Rahul will be contesting the Lok Sabha polls from both Uttar Pradesh Amethi as well as Kerala Wayanad.
The decision is believed to be the party efforts to strengthen its electoral base in the southern part of the country, especially Kerala. Kerala has a total of 20 Lok Sabha seats with it. In the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, Congress had won eight seats in Kerala. While its ally Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) won two seats, Kerala Congress (Mani) and Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP) won one seat each.
