Rahul Gandhi of Congress and a Lok-Sabha MP from Wayanad chose to speak on the farm laws in response to Prime Minister's jibe, the other day about the content and intent of the farm laws in Parliament. He said these laws are for government's "corporate friends."

In an uproar in the parliament, Gandhi said the government if following 'Hum do Hamare do' policy to further the interests of "two corporate friends." However, ruckus ensued over Gandhi's speech because BJP MPs said he should speak on budget. In his nearly 15 minutes long speech, he said the corporate friends of the government are taking control of the Rs 40 lakh crore agriculture business.

BJP leaders insisted Gandhi should speak on Budget since farm laws were discussed as a part of motion of thanks to the President Ram Nath Kovind's address. Gandhi didn't name anyone but said everyone knows four people are running the country.

Gandhi added that these laws have been implemented to make sure all the purchase and storage of food grains is monopolized for two corporate in the country. Gandhi alleged that the new farm laws will destroy mandi system, dismantle India's food security, hurt rural economy, distort India's ability to produce jobs.

Gandhi said, "The intent of these laws is to allow industrialists to buy unlimited quantities of food grains and hoard them as much as they want. The Prime Minister said he has given options. Yes, he has given three options: hunger, unemployment, suicide......"

The parliamentary affairs minister interfered and asked Gandhi to speak on budget, Gandhi said he would speak about the issue of farmers because the government had denied structured debate regarding their issues.

Gandhi also asked fellow MPs to observe two minutes silence to mourn the death of more than 200 farmers in the parliament but the MPs from other parties outburst in protests. Speaker Om Birla was also displeased and said running the house is his responsibility while such behavior by senior MPs is "inappropriate."
