A team of the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Thursday raided Punjab CM Bhagwant Singh Mann's Delhi residence Kapurthala House. Delhi Chief Minister & AAP leader Atishi called the raid at the Kapurthala House as BJP's politics and fired a tweet slamming the saffron party. Returning Officer OP Pandey while talking to the media outside Kapurthala House in New Delhi informed that the ECI received a complaint of money distribution on cVIGIL App and hence a team raided Bhagwant Singh Mann's official residence in New Delhi.
Returning Officer OP Pandey said, "We have got a complaint about money distribution. We have to dispose of the complaint in 100 minutes. Our FST had come here which was not allowed to enter. I have come here to request them to let us enter along with a cameraperson. The complaint of money distribution was received on the cVIGIL app."
A massive security of Delhi Police were deployed outside Kapurthala House.. Delhi Police in their statement said, "On a complaint by RO (Returning Officer) and Flying Squad Team, the Police presence is on requisition and requirement for the safety of FST."
On the other hand, Delhi CM Atishi fired a tweet that reads, "(Translated Version) Delhi Police has reached to raid @BhagwantMann ji's house in Delhi. BJP people are distributing money, shoes, sheets in broad daylight - that is not visible. Instead, they go to raid the residence of an elected Chief Minister. Wow BJP! People of Delhi will give their answer on 5th!"
Notably, the raid at Punjab CM Bhagwant Singh Mann's Kapurthala residence comes a day after Delhi Police seized a suspicious vehicle outside Punjab Bhavan. A suspicious car with the text 'Punjab Sarkar' was seized by Delhi Police on Wednesday. Cash, liquor, and AAP brochures and stickers were recovered from the car.
In response, Punjab's Department of Transport issued a statement and outlined that the number plate of the seized car by the Police was forged and fake.
