Raj Kundra said that the media paid his ex-wife to "sell a so called shocking story." He stated, "News of the World paid her hundreds of pounds to conduct this interview. During our divorce, she had to show her bank statements, on which it was clearly stated that she had been paid by the newspaper to sell a so called sensational story.He said, ”She's blaming a celebrity for her failed marriage when she was the one who caused it to fail.”
Raj Kundra also discussed the grounds behind his divorce from Kavita in the interview. When they moved in London, he said that Kavita "always brought out the worst in him" and that she was having an affair with his sister's husband. "She became increasingly close to my ex-brother-in-law, spending more and more time with him, particularly when I was away on a business trip. Many members of my family, including my driver, would suggest there's something fishy going on between these two, and I'd never believe them. I decided to give my ex-wife the benefit of the doubt.”
"I remember being saddened and crying uncontrollably as I considered what I had done to deserve this. I called my pregnant sister and informed her that the phone number was Kavita's second secret phone, that I was going to drop her off at her house, and that that was the end of my involvement; she could do whatever she wanted.”
Raj said that after the birth of their baby girl, he left Kavita at her parents' house in India without confronting her, and added: "That was the last time I left her and my kid; somewhere inside Kavita, she sensed something was wrong. Saying farewell to my 40-day-old kid was difficult." He claimed that once he returned to the UK, he texted her to inform her that he had learned about her affair.
"Later, when I met Shilpa through mutual friends and my ex found out about our date on the internet, she raised her divorce demands." She even sold a storey to a UK tabloid for tens of thousands of pounds saying Shilpa ruined her marriage. Kavita demanded that I stay away from our baby as part of our multi-million dollar divorce agreement, and that my daughter would know where to find me if she needed me. I agree that it was unfair to the child, but everytime we met, we fought like cats and dogs, and we both felt that our daughter didn't deserve to be exposed to this part of us.
I knew she was very well financially, but I miss my kid, and I'm sure she hasn't learned half of the story; God knows what my ex-wife has fed her mind. I attempted several times to contact my daughter, but no one was ready to connect me. "I could have tried more," Raj Kundra admitted, "but I think I just moved on with my life in a new country."
