International stars, Congress lawmakers, activists among other public figures have come out in support of farmers protesting at the borders around Delhi. It stoked a controversy when Akshay Kumar, Kailash Kher, Ajay Devgn, Suniel Shetty, Karan Johar, Ekta Kapoor and even Sachin Tendulkar come to the rescue of government tweeted about international propaganda.
Raj Thanckeray, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) Cheif said the government should not have exposed Lata Mangeshkar and Sachin Tendulkar to online trolling.
Thackeray's remarks came after Sachin Tendulkar tweeted, "External forces can be spectators but not participants. Indians know India and should decide for India. Let's remain united as a nation." Tendulkar was trolled for his stance by the users on Twitter and other social networking sites.
"The government should not have asked them to tweet using the same hashtags in support of its stand on farmers stir and put their reputation at stake. Sachin Tendulkar and Lata Mangeshkar are very big people, they are simple people," said Thackeray.
Thackeray added that the government should have limited its use of celebrities to Akshay Kumar only.
