In an attempt to contain the spread of coronavirus, Rajasthan has become the first state to make masks or face cover mandatory at all public places. The Rajasthan government has introduced an amendment bill in the state assembly to make wearing a face mask/cover mandatory. A new clause in Section 4 of the Rajasthan Epidemic Diseases Act, 2020 has been inserted according to which the movement of people at public places without properly covering mouth and nose with a face mask or cover is prohibited.
The statement of the bill said, “Health experts all over the world are of the opinion that the use of masks can help control the spread of COVID-19 considerably and save lives of millions”.
In a tweet, Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot said, “Rajasthan will be the first state in the country to enact a law to make wearing masks for protection against coronavirus mandatory. Mask is the only vaccine to protect against coronavirus. With the ongoing ‘mass movement against corona’ in Rajasthan, the government is bringing a law that is going to make masks mandatory in the state."
He also called upon the NCC and NSS cadets to get connected to the campaign to defeat corona and help spread the message to every household.

In wake of the coronavirus pandemic and controlling air pollution because of firecrackers during the festive season, the Rajasthan government has also decided to ban the sale of firecrackers. Gehlot advocated for Diwali without firecrackers. He urged people to celebrate Diwali without crackers and inspire others also to do so.
During a discussion on ‘Unlock -6’ guidelines, Principal Secretary (Home) Abhay Kumar said educational institutions and coaching centers including schools- colleges in the state will remain closed till November 16.
Swimming pools, cinema halls, theatres, multiplexes, entertainment parks, etc. will remain closed till November 30. The maximum limit of guests at the wedding should not exceed 100, the statement said.
