Rare move of Jalandhar MP and DC to save life of villagers cut- off from Ludhiana

In an exemplary service of needy people Lok Sabha MP from Jalandhar Mr Sushil Kumar Rinku and Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr Vishesh Sarangal saved life of a family in the village falling in Ludhiana district on humanitarian ground.

Both the MP and Deputy Commissioner were overseeing rescue works in Phillaur Sub Division when they got an emergency message that a family has been trapped in village Uccha Khera Bet on bank of Satluj. They were apprised that family needs to be rescued at the earliest as the water level is rising swiftly. Though some junior officers apprised the MP and DC that the village falls in Ludhiana but as it was cut off from that district so both of them pressed the government machinery into action to save the precious lives.

The MP and DC themselves went in the boat along with team of NDRF to rescue the family stuck in the swollen Satluj. When both of them reached the spot the family expressed its unwillingness to leave their home. However, the MP and Deputy Commissioner persuaded them to move along with them as it was the need of hour to save their precious lives.

Meanwhile, both the MP and DC said that it is not the matter of districts or jurisdiction but for the time being human cause comes first. They said that as the village was cut off from Ludhiana and the villagers had made call on the number of Jalandhar administration so they were duty bound to help these families. They said that as per directions of the Chief Minister Mr Bhagwant Mann they have acted just to ensure that the precious lives of the people are saved.

They said that this is the duty of the humanity and they are blessed to have got opportunity to serve the masses in this hour of distress. They also said that the Jalandhar administration is leaving no stone unturned for saving the precious lives of the people in this hour of crisis. They said that an elaborate mechanism has already been put in place to ensure that people are evacuated at safe places in case of floods.
