Delhi Crime Season 2 will be released on Netflix India with Bollywood actress Shefali Shah donning DCP's hat yet again. One of the most awaited and widely acclaimed crime drama series, Delhi Crime 2 will hit the OTT platform on August 26. Delhi Crime 2022 will be the second installment of the widely acclaimed crime drama series which went on to win the International Emmy Awards. Delhi Crime was based on the sensational 2012 Nirbhaya Gang Rape Case which showcased how the Police handled the gruesome incident which took place in a moving bus in India's National Capital. Delhi Crimes 2 trailer was released on August 8, and ever since then, fans are eagerly waiting for the crime drama series. Now, the question arises whether Delhi Crimes 2 is a true story or Delhi Crimes 2 is real story or not.
The answer to this question is yes. Delhi Crimes Season 2 is a true story based on the gruesome and heinous crimes carried out by the infamous Kaccha Baniyan gang. Shefali Shah who will be playing the character of DCP Vartika Chaturvedi will be seen on a manhunt along with her team to nab the Kaccha Baniyan gang. Apart from Shefali Shah, actors like Rashika Dugal, Rajesh Tailang, and more will be seen in the pivotal roles as well.
Notably, Delhi Crime 1 after it was released had won the International Emmy award for Outstanding Drama Series, becoming the first-ever Indian show to achieve the feat. The web series was directed Richie Mehta, however, Delhi Crimes 2 has not been directed by the same. The baton of legacy in the crime thriller of season 2 of Delhi Crime has been passed to Tanuj Chopra from Richie Mehta. Despite the change in makers, Delhi Crimes 2 trailer looks mind-boggling and thrilling at the same time.
Coming to Delhi Crimes 2 real-story, Kaccha Baniyan gangs are criminal groups infamous for attacking homeowners, robbing them, and even brutally murdering them. Kaccha Baniyan gang which is still operational in India is said to attack innocents wearing only undergarments, hence the name 'Kaccha Baniyan gang'. Delhi Crimes 2 portrayed the gang members generally applying oil on their full body so that they cannot be caught by hands easily. It is factually correct as well, the Kaccha Baniyan gang often covers themselves with oil or mud to protect their identities. These gangs were known to conceal themselves as beggars or common labourers during the day while they spot vulnerable houses and plot their attacks.
As per the information available in the public domain, the Kachcha Baniyan gang attempt to steal from multiple homes before they move to other states. Interestingly, the Kachcha Baniyan Gang activity has been reported since 1987, and even till now, they have been active in Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi Rajasthan, and Andhra Pradesh. In April 2016, four members of a Kachcha Baniyan Gang were arrested in Mumbai in an encounter with Mumbai Police.
With the Kachcha Baniyan gang still operating in India, it will be interesting to see how Delhi Crimes 2 will portray the acts and incidents and how it will conclude the web series.
