However, Spy revolves around some important documents regarding freedom fighter Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and how they fall into the hands of a deadly terrorist named. Nikhil Siddhartha plays the character of Jai who is a RAW agent on a mission to retrieve those files which can impact India's National Security. In an interview with a news portal, Nikhil opened up about his fantasy of doing spy-genre films and the story revolving around his movie Spy.
Nikhil Siddhartha in one of his interviews was quoted saying,"It's a genre I've always been a fan of. From the time I saw Jason Bourne, Mission Impossible and all those films, I've always dreamt of doing a spy thriller playing somebody who protects the country. This movie has twists and turns and it blends history and thrills together. We talk about the incidents which happened around Independence and how it is affecting the current scenario. The disappearance of Subhas Chandra Bose or Netaji is delved into. The movie has been well-researched."
Apart from Nikhil portraying a RAW agent in the film, Spy marks the directorial debut of Garry BH, who has made a name for himself as an exceptional editor in the Telugu film industry.
