The much-awaited spy-thriller web series Trason was released on Netflix on December 26, 2022. Ever since its release, Treason has started making waves in the world of OTT and has been receiving positive reviews. Created by Matt Charman, Treason has a stellar star cast that includes Daredevil fame Charlie Cox who plays the protagonist i.e. an MI6 officer named Adam Lawrence, Oona Chaplin playing Maddy De Costa, Olga Kurylenko playing Kara Yerzov, Ciaran Hinds playing Sir Martin Angelis, Tracy Ifeachor playing Dede. The 5-episodes web series is said to have the potential to be another heart-winning series starring Charlie Cox. Treason’s lead is an MI6 officer who becomes acting chief after the head of the organization is poisoned by a Russian spy. With an MI6 and Russian spy being the storyline of the web series, the question arises whether Treason is a true story or Treason is a real story not?
The answer to this question is yes and no at the same time. Treason is a fictional story, however, the character of MI6 Agent Adam is inspired by a real-life MI6 Officer of the British Secret Intelligence Service. Although the real name of the MI6 Officer has not been revealed, Matt Charman was quoted by US media saying that he drew inspiration for Adam's character from agents he has met in the past. "What's always struck me about those in that line of work is how brilliantly they fit into everyday life—how well and easy it would be to meet them at a party or sit next to them on the tube, have a little chat with them and not know what they do for a living. I wanted Adam to feel that way; I wanted him to feel like someone you might have gone to university with or who you might have bumped into in a supermarket or a bookshop. He had to feel real and relatable and fallible, and that was my starting point for him."
Treason Storyline
The series steps into the world of British Secret Intelligence services and various other double-dealing agents. Treason’s lead is an MI6 officer who becomes acting chief after the head of the organization is poisoned by a Russian spy. With everything from Russian spies to a dangerous love triangle and a potentially fatal threat, Treason on Netflix is a truly twisting thriller. It’s been compared to The Bodyguard and John Le Carre. Charlie Cox plays Britain’s top M16 agent Adam Lawrence in the movie Treason, which also stars Olga Kurylenko and Oona Chaplin from Quantum of Solace. Adam Lawrence, played by Charlie Cox, is an MI6 agent who has been prepared by the organisation to advance to the top of the organisation. However, Adam is forced to reevaluate everything and everyone in his life when Russian agent Kara, played by James Bond actress Olga Kurylenko, shows up to confront him about his history.
As of now, Treason Season 1 has made its way in Netflix's top 10 web series this week in multiple countries, it is expected to amp up more as the weekend arrives.
