Rekha’s had a successful and glamorous career in Bollywood, but her personal life has always been controversial and problematic. She married businessman Mukesh Agarwal in 1990, however that love story ended within few months.

The legendary actress Rekha had a glamourous career. But it would not be wrong to say that her personal life was a little unfortunate. After things ended with Amitabh Bachchan, she found love in industrialist Mukesh Agarwal. But fate had other plans for her.
Rekha and Mukesh met through a common friend
Mukesh Agarwal was a successful businessman of Delhi. He used to host lavish parties in his farmhouse and invite several Bollywood celebrities. Fashion designer, Bima Ramani was a common friend of Rekha and Mukesh. She lived in Delhi and Rekha used to visit her from time to time. Onetime, Rekha told her friends that she now wants to settle down, after which Bima introduced her to Mukesh Agarwal.
Got married within a month
Rekha and Mukesh talked over the phone and soon started meeting. Rekha was mesmerized by Mukesh’s simplicity and within a month Mukesh visited Rekha in Mumbai and proposed to her for marriage. They decided to get married on the same day. The couple tied the knot on March 4, 1990.
Circumstances changed after marriage
After marriage, Rekha and Mukesh spent this much time for the first time and their initial days were blissful. Later Rekha witnessed a different side of Mukesh and also felt something was troubling him. Rekha lived in Mumbai and used to give frequent visits to Mukesh in Delhi. According to writer Yasir Usmaan, Rekha had a problem with Mukesh’s affection for showy people. Due to these reasons, she started stepping back from the relationship. Their relationship suffered and the couple decided to get divorced within six months of their marriage.
Mukesh was earlier diagnosed with depression and after loss in business, he again fell prey to acute depression. He was heavy on medications. Because of loss in business and a failed marriage, Mukesh committed suicide on October 2, 1990.
Rekha is blamed for Mukesh Agarwal’s death. Yaseer Usman wrote in his book, “Mukesh hanged himself to the ceiling fan using his wife Rekha’s dupatta.”
Her desire to have a family and lead a normal life led her into meeting and falling in love with Mukesh. But destiny had something else planned for her.
She has dealt with so much yet have a commendable zeal towards life. Nothing can tame Rekha and she’s still ruling queen of Bollywood.
