The popular artist Milton Powell, well-known by the name- Big Pokey died after he collapsed during his performance in Beaumont, Texas on late Saturday night. At first, the public dismissed it as a joke. Nobody thought that it was serious. However, as the minutes went by, they came to understand that it was far more serious than it appeared to be.
What happened to Big at the concert?
The footage that went viral shows that the 45-year-old rapper started to gasp while rapping at the Pour 09 Bar. He took out his microphone and fell back on the stage. He was rushed to the hospital soon after the paramedics tried to perform CPR. It has been confirmed that Big died soon after collapsing.

As of now, the singer's family has kept it all under wraps and have not revealed Big Pokey's death reason. In a statement released by Big Pokey's publicist, the family asks for privacy in light of the difficult time they are going through and while they are awaiting the results of the autopsy. -“It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of our beloved Milton ‘Big Pokey’ Powell. Big Pokey passed away on June 18, 2023,” the statement read. “He was well-loved by his family, his friends, and his loyal fans. In the coming days, we will release information about his celebration of life and how the public can pay their respects. We ask that you respect his family and their privacy during this difficult time. Big Pokey will forever be ‘The Hardest Pit in the Litter.'” The reason behind Big’s death is still unknown. The autopsy result is still awaited.
Milton Powell, better known by his stage name Big, founded the Houston rap scene with the group Screw up Click. His 1999 debut solo album, "The Hardest Pit in the Litter," was the catalyst for his rise to fame. Later, Big put out more albums and collaborated with other artists. In 2021, 'Sensei,' his most recent album, was released.
