Gurugram, a city that's been a go-to for liquor purchases, is seeing a spike in liquor prices as Delhi grapples with a shortage of popular brands.
Gurugram, a preferred destination for Alcohol shoppers
For years, Gurugram has been the favorite city for buying liquor in the NCR region. The variety, discounts, and competitive pricing have attracted residents of Delhi and Noida to stock up their liquor cabinets from the stores in Millennium City.
However, in recent weeks, the price differential between Delhi and Gurugram has considerably narrowed. The confusion surrounding Delhi's liquor policy and the surging demand during the festive season have led to the disappearance of popular brands from the shelves of the capital's liquor stores. In the present scenario, retailers in Gurugram are charging more than 33% compared to two months ago.
Jack Daniel's, Black Label, Jameson, Glenlivet and more, significant price increases
For instance, a bottle of Jack Daniel's, which used to cost Rs. 1,800, is now selling at Rs. 2,300. Similarly, Black Label has gone from Rs. 1,800 to Rs. 2,200, Jameson from Rs. 1,200 to Rs. 1,600, and Glenlivet 12 has risen from Rs. 2,900 to Rs. 3,400. Most of these brands are simply not available in the capital, driving customers to Gurugram. What's intriguing is that despite the increased prices, liquor sales are booming in Gurugram.
Kingfisher Premium, Corona Witness escalating costs
Beer prices are also witnessing a surge. For instance, a 330ml bottle of Kingfisher Premium has gone from Rs. 90 to Rs. 120, and Corona is being sold at Rs. 200, up from Rs. 165.
