Robbers escape after looting Rs 16 lakhs from Axis Bank in Arrah, Police kept waiting for surrender

In a bizarre incident, at least five robbers on Wednesday looted Rs 16 lakhs from Axis Bank Branch in Arrah, Bihar. Arrah Bank loot incident took place on Circuit House Road and five robbers ran away with Rs 16 lakh kept in the bank. However, what raised everyone's eyebrows was that the Police kept on waiting outside and asking the robbers to surrender. 

 

As per reports, the local Police got the wrong information, and therefore, the cops surrounded the bank from outside and kept on waiting for one and a half hours. Bhojpur SP Pramod Kumar reportedly asked the robbers on loudspeakers to surrender or else face strict action sensing the situation might turn into a hostage situation.

 

Later, when Bhojpur SP Pramod Kumar entered the bank wearing a bulletproof jacket, it was found that there was no robber left. In confusion, the police kept waiting for the robbers outside the bank for one and a half hours, whereas the robbers took advantage and fled with the money in just 4 minutes. Notably, no staff was harmed during the robbery and the bank locker is also safe.

 

Bhojpur SP Pramod Kumar was quoted saying, "To inform everyone that today, December 6, 2023, at around 10:15 am, five criminals entered Axis Bank Ara with weapons and locked the bank employees in a room. They did it and ran away within 4 minutes with about 16.5 lakh rupees kept on the counter."

 

"After some time, the bank employees informed the police through some phone that the criminals were inside the bank. On this, the police surrounded the bank and entered inside. The employees were evacuated and after checking the footage, it was found that the criminals locked the bank employees in a room and ran away with Rs 16.5 lakh. Photographs and videos of the criminals have been found. A police team has been formed to arrest them and action has been taken. It has been started."
