An honest working shopkeeper in Ludhiana was shot in a robbery attempt last Saturday. According to reports, the owner of a medical store situated at Chandigarh road was getting ready to close his shop and head home when 3 drunk individuals turned up to the shop on a motorcycle and shot the shopowner in the foot.
After being shot, the shopkeeper, identified as Suraj Rajput hid behind a cooler in order to protect himself after being injured. The individuals entered the shop and reportedly took the owner’s mobile phone and laptop along with a bag that was placed on the counter which according to the owner, had 1 lakh INR in it.
The robbers were reportedly under the influence and can be seen brandishing a loaded pistol around with which 2 shots were fired, one of the bullets ending up in the shopkeeper’s foot. While still threatening with the pistol, the miscreant quickly fled the scene with the mobile, laptop and the cash, leaving the injured shopkeeper on the floor and heavily exempted from his money.
SHO Jaspal Singh informs that the entire incident was caught on CCTV cameras that were placed around the shop, and a thorough search is ongoing to identify and apprehend the miscreants. The individuals are being identified using footage from the CCTV cameras.
