Famous Punjabi singers Ranjit Bawa and Kanwar Grewal’s residences as well as offices were raided by the Income Tax department on Monday. Heavy police and CRPF forces were also deployed outside their houses. This information about the raid at the singers’ houses has not gone down well with the people. Although till now there has been no official confirmation from the members of IT department.
As per the sources, the raids that were carried out at the residences of singer Ranjit Bawa and Kanwar Grewal have revealed many startling facts about their income, assets, etc. As per the information received, the IT department recovered Rs. 2.5 crores of cash from the residences of both singers during raids. He also stated that various records were found from both the singers regarding there shows and it is suspected that it might not be entered in official statements.
Several other pieces of evidence like these have raised doubts in the mind of IT officials. The investigation is still underway and it can create a lot of difficulties in the future for both singers. Further details are awaited.
Earlier, while the raids were being carried out many influential people as well as common people stated that the Central Government is just painting a target on the prominent people who were active members during the farmers’ protest.
