Bollywood veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty was visited by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat at his residence in Mumbai on Tuesday, early morning. The meeting between both personalities has raised speculations about the actor rejoining politics. The meeting also comes amidst the RSS affiliate Bharatiya Janata Party's aggressive drive in West Bengal ahead of the Assembly polls due in April-May. Interestingly, this is their second meeting as in another such event both had met in October 2019 at RSS headquarters in Nagpur which made headlines back then.
Chakraborty was born and brought up in Bengal and thus, a popular star in the eastern state with a massive fan following and iconic face.
What Mithun said about the meeting?
The meeting between Mohan Bhagwat and Mithun Chakraborty at his Madh Island residence in Mumbai went on for over one hour. Another meeting is lined up in the next 4-5 days, according to sources.
“See, I have a spiritual relationship with him and it is very deep. And it had been decided before, that whenever he comes to Mumbai, he will come home. It is just that I just returned from shooting in Lucknow and he was in Mumbai, so we came together. And he has come home so that means he loves me. He asked me to bring my family along to Nagpur. That is all. We had breakfast together,” Mithun replied when asked if it was a political meeting.
He further added it the meeting has nothing to do with politics, “Please don’t link it and blow it out of proportion.”
When asked if he’d join the political battle currently amid speculation, he said, “You can speculate, but currently there are no plans.”
Dismissing the query if he would be the potential CM Face in Bengal elections, the actor said ‘Namashkar, Dhanyavad’.
