The Sabarmati Report is a drama thriller film. It is written by Avinash and Arjun. It is directed by Ranjan Chandel, who was later replaced by Dheeraj Sarna. The film is produced by Balaji Motion Pictures and Vikir Films Production.
The movie stars Vikrant Massey as Samar Kumar, Raashii Khanna as Amrita Gill and Riddhi Dogra as Manika Rajpurohit. The storyline of the movie revolves around the Godhra train burning incident of 27th February 2002, that involved the Sabarmati Express train. The film had released on 15th November 2024 in theatres.
Initially the film was scheduled to release on 3rd May 2024, following which it later got pushed to 2nd August 2024 due to the censor issues. Finally, the movie got released on 15th November 2024.
Talking about the delay, actress Ridhi Dogra said, “We did our work and it only gave us time to make our film a little better. We took it in our stride. I don't get perturbed by delays. I am used to it. Asur, too, got released much later after we shot it. I am used to projects getting delayed as long as the producers, who put in money, they should not lose money.”

This drama thriller movie is all set to start streaming from 10th January 2025 on ZEE5. During the trailer launch of the movie, Vikrant revealed that he had got multiple threats due to his involvement in this project as it is related to the Godhra train burning incident.
Talking about the title of the movie in a podcast, Vikrant Massey said, “It has been 22 years and you also know that there were multiple narratives at that time. No one knew what actually happened. When I brought the story or script to my home, I discussed it with my family. I have my children; my friends have children. They don't know what happened on 27th February, they only know about the riots. But, no one talked about the genesis, the 69 people only turned into statistics. Now, the Supreme Court has already given a judge on this. No one is above the Supreme Court in this country, the controversy has settled down and this is why we named the movie The Sabarmati Report.”
