On 16th January, Thursday, Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan was stabbed by an unidentified person during a burglary at his Bandra home. As per the police, the suspect entered Saif Ali Khan's Bandra home at around 3:30 AM and both of them had a fight during which the actor was stabbed multiple times. Actor’s wife Kareena Kapoor and children Taimur and Jeh were present in the house at the time of the incident.
According to the police, an intruder sneaked into Saif's house while he was sleeping with his family. A fight broke out between the actor and the intruder. Later, the intruder allegedly attacked the actor six times and fled from the crime scene. House Help has suffered minor injuries as well.
The doctor from Lilavati Hospital said that He has six stabs out of which two are deep. Additionally, one of the knife wounds was very close to his spinal cord. The Mumbai police have started an investigation, and CCTV footage from the area around the house is being reviewed.
The local area's Deputy Commissioner of Police, Dixit Gedam said, “An unidentified person intruded into the residence of actor Saif Ali Khan. The actor and the intruder fought. The actor was injured and is being treated. An investigation is going on.”
Meanwhile, Saif Ali Khan's team released a statement stating, “There was an attempted burglary at Mr Saif Ali Khans residence. He is currently in hospital undergoing surgery. We request the media and fans to be patient. It is a police matter. We will keep you updated on the situation.”
Dr Uttamani of Lilavati Hospital said that, “Saif Ali Khan was stabbed by an unidentified person at his Bandra home and was brought in at 3:30 AM. He had six stabs and two were deep. Of this one is close to the spine. He is being operated upon by a team of doctors led by Neurosurgeon Dr Nitin Dange, cosmetic surgeon Dr Leena Jain and anaesthesiologist Dr Nisha Gandhi.”
Saif Ali Khan’s wife Kareena Kapoor Khan’s team has also issued a statement requesting fans and the media to remain patient, as the police are currently conducting their investigations.
The statement read, “There was an attempted burglary in Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan’s residence last night. Saif had an injury on his arm for which is in hospital, undergoing a procedure. The rest of the family is doing fine. We request media and fans to be patient and not speculate any further as the Police is already doing their due investigations. Thank you all for your concern. Team Kareena Kapoor Khan.”
The police have started the investigation and an FIR against an intruder has also been lodged at the Bandra Police Station. The Mumbai Police has detained three people working in Saif's house. These three were taken to the police station for being interrogated.
Sources say there was a duct in the house that opened inside the bedroom. Preliminary investigation has found that there is a possibility that thieves entered the house from this duct.
